Applications for commercial space in Herrenberg started – act now!

The city of Herrenberg recently announced the acceptance of applications for commercial space in the new Binsenkolben VI commercial area in Kuppingen/Affstätt. The application period runs from October 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026. Interested parties can submit their requests using a standardized online form on the city's official website. The approval of the areas is based on previously established award criteria, which were decided at a local council meeting on July 22, 2025, and must be carried out in cooperation with the local councils. It should be noted that requests submitted later or differently will not be considered, which is why a timely application is recommended.

The new commercial area will be divided into sensible individual areas, although the number of available areas is limited. These initiatives are part of the overarching urban development strategies aimed at promoting economic recovery in the region. Redesign of public spaces

In parallel to the commercial areas, work is also being carried out on the redesign of central public spaces in Herrenberg's old town. The city has announced a planning competition for the redesign of these rooms. The competition, which is carried out as a restricted procedure, aims to develop guiding ideas for the central street axes such as Bronngasse, Hirschgasse and Stuttgarter and Tübinger Straße. The redesign should not only improve the functionality of the squares, but also increase the aesthetic quality of the cityscape.

Participation in the competition is only open to landscape architects or working groups with urban planners and/or architects. Pre-selected participants include companies such as koeber landschaftsarchitektur from Stuttgart and SETUP-Landschaftsarchitektur from Karlsruhe/Leonberg. The competition includes both an ideas and a realization part and has a total area of ​​9,740 square meters, divided into a realization part of approx. 3,470 square meters and an ideas part of approx. 6,270 square meters.

Details about the procedure

The application deadline for this competition ends on September 23, 2024. The submitted works will be evaluated according to defined award criteria, in which the quality of the competition result has the largest share with 60 points, followed by the performance of the project team and other qualitative aspects. A total of 60,000 euros in prize money is available, which will be distributed among the best, with first place receiving 19,800 euros and second place receiving 13,200 euros.
