Weather warnings from the German Weather Service (DWD) are causing concern in the Stuttgart region and beyond. According to the recent report by tz.de There is a warning of severe storms moving across the country from west to east. Residents have to expect extreme weather conditions, especially in the districts of Bruck and Fürstenfeldbruck.
On the evening of June 6, 2025, the first effects were already recorded in Germerswang: a power outage occurred, while hailstones with a diameter of up to 3 cm were reported in Maisach. In the later evening hours, the thunderstorms moved east, but not without warnings of further damage and safety risks. The DWD expects that the size of the hailstones could increase to 5 cm, and the wind speeds are also worrying: gusts of up to 100 km/h are expected.
Local residents' preparations
In many affected areas, drivers have already taken protective measures. In the Fürstenfeldbruck district, for example, protective covers are used for cars to prevent damage from hail. The Edeka Gashi shopping center in Germering has also taken precautions and offers parking facilities, which can only be used until 8 p.m.
The weather situation is described as dynamic and challenging. According to the DWD, isolated thunderstorms with sleet and force 7 gusts are expected starting next night, especially in the western and northern regions of Germany. A similar picture is expected on Saturday: thunderstorms will move across the country from west to east, with local heavy rain of 20 to 30 liters per square meter. In the central and eastern parts of the country, some thunderstorms could even produce a tornado.

The risk of damage to infrastructure and nature is high. The combination of hail and strong gusts poses significant risks, both to people and the environment. The local risk is further exacerbated by the potential for extremely large hailstones of more than 8cm in diameter and gale force gusts of over 120km/h.
