A dramatic incident occurred on Sunday evening directly on the A81 motorway between Rottenburg and Herrenberg. A BMW started burning for an unknown reason and had to be completely extinguished. The driver who was in the vehicle was able to escape uninjured. The fire department was quickly on site and brought the fire under control, but the damage was extensive. The BMW burned out completely, which resulted in an extensive clean-up operation by the motorway maintenance department, which had to clean the road in order to reopen the road. As a result, the highway was completely closed for a long time, which led to significant traffic delays, reported SZBZ.

But it wasn't just the BMW that was a dangerous case on the A81 during these hours. The same highway was also the scene of another fire when a Ford Galaxy caught fire at the Leonberg triangle at around 12:10 a.m. Like from t online reported, this incident occurred at the level of the Engelberg tunnel. The three occupants, aged 31 to 50, were able to drive the car to the side of the road in time and get to safety uninjured. The fire department was able to quickly contain the fire, but a technical defect in the engine compartment was determined to be the cause. The material damage caused by the fire amounts to around 6,500 euros and affects the vehicle as well as the guard rail and the road.
