Weilheim table tennis stars win bronze at senior finals!
This year's table tennis finals in Erfurt were an extraordinary event for the senior classes, which was considered the largest table tennis festival in Europe. Among the participants was the Weilheim player Christiane Ernst, who competed in the 45 age group and won the bronze medal in both singles and doubles. Ernst was active in a total of three competitions and was able to show some impressive performances. She won her preliminary group in the singles with a 3-0 win.
In the quarter-finals she clearly beat Jennifer Kaufmann (TSV Watenbüttel) 3-0, but had to admit defeat to the eventual winner Nikola Jäckel (TTV Hasborn) in the semi-finals and lost without winning a set.
Another medal in doubles
Christiane Ernst was also able to achieve remarkable success in doubles. Together with her partner Barbara Seiler (TTC Langweid) she reached the semi-finals. But the duo had to admit defeat to the Jäckel/Brück team 0:3. Nevertheless, Ernst was satisfied with her bronze medal and was optimistic about future competitions.
Another participant from the region, Florian Kaindl from TSV Hohenpeißenberg, also won a bronze medal in the mixed competition. Together with Barbara Seiler he managed to reach the semi-finals, where they also lost to Jäckel/Brück. In the individual competition, Kaindl competed in the 45 age group, won his preliminary group with three wins, but suffered a 3-0 defeat in the quarterfinals against Frank Sternal (MTV Moisburg).
Senior competition highlights
The results of the competition provide an in-depth look at the seniors' achievements. In the women's age group 45, Nikola Jäckel won the individual title, while Christiane Ernst came third. In doubles, Jäckel and Brück took first place, while Ernst and Seiler also came third.
