Current security situation

A look back at the last few weeks shows that security-related events continue to occur in the canton of Uri. On July 1, 2025, a private security service informed the Uri cantonal police about two young people whose behavior gave rise to concern. On the same weekend, on June 28, 2025, the “Super Biker” motorcycle prevention campaign took place on Urnerboden, which was intended to promote road safety and traffic flow. These events are part of the ongoing efforts to increase safety in the canton and enable the population to use road traffic safely.

Other events, such as the traffic accident on June 28, 2025 on Gründligasse in Altdorf as well as several incidents in the weeks before, illustrate the need for constant vigilance. On June 20, 2025, there were several serious traffic accidents involving motorcycles during the Pentecost weekend, which once again illustrates the dangers on the canton's roads.

The canton of Uri is also preparing for larger events, including the Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival (ESAF), which will take place in Glarnerland at the end of August 2025. In order to ensure traffic safety and flow even when there are large gatherings of people, preventive measures and close controls are essential.

The events and the associated investigations underline the continuous efforts of the Uri cantonal police to maintain security in the region and to respond to any dangers in a timely manner.
