Altdorf collects: Vital fundraising campaign for those in need in Ukraine!

Ukrainehilfe Altdorf has launched a new fundraising campaign to help the population in Ukraine affected by the ongoing conflict. The war, which has now lasted for over three years, has dramatically worsened the living situation of many people. Reports from Ukraine highlight the ongoing plight of the population, who urgently need support. The organization is asking for food and hygiene donations as no other types of donations can be accepted due to space constraints. Monetary donations are also welcome, as the local team will then purchase needed items.

Donations are accepted at Petra Meier in the “Italienische Mode” store at Turkeystraße 29 in Altdorf. The store is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Long-life foods such as oil, rice, flour, sugar and baby food as well as hygiene products are particularly urgently needed, especially for women, the elderly and children. If possible, donations should be packaged for transport to minimize effort.

The urgent situation

The humanitarian situation in Ukraine is precarious. According to the UNHCR, over 6.3 million people have now fled Ukraine, while an estimated 3.7 million people are displaced within the country. Around 12.7 million people are dependent on humanitarian aid. This aid is guaranteed by an extensive alliance of organizations that has already collected over 285.6 million euros for emergency aid in Ukraine since 2022. The alliance has launched 240 aid projects, of which more than 60 are currently running, to support fleeing people not only within Ukraine but also in host countries, including countries such as Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany.

The majority of refugees are women and children who urgently need protection. Ukrainehilfe Altdorf is only a small part of a large commitment that is active in more than ten countries to support those affected and secure their basic needs. The situation remains tense and there is no end to the conflict in sight. That's why every donation is an important support for the people who suffer from the consequences of the war.

In summary, the fundraising campaign in Altdorf offers a significant opportunity to help directly. Every contribution, whether food, hygiene products or monetary donations, helps the people in Ukraine who urgently need support. Get involved and help improve the living conditions of those affected.
