Farewell after 30 years: The medical team is leaving Biessenhofen!

At the citizens' meeting in Biessenhofen on June 6, 2025, the medical couple Dr. med. Sabine and Dr. med. Rudolf Sprich retired after more than 30 years. The first mayor, Wolfgang Eurisch, praised the couple's achievements in a heartfelt thank you. Their commitment to basic services and quality of life in the region was particularly highlighted. The pair of doctors were available in emergencies not only during their consultation hours but also outside of practice hours and shared some anecdotes from their many years of work during the event.

Dr. Sabine and Dr. Rudolf Sprich were particularly appreciated for their support of citizens and their sensitive commitment to health care. The community is looking forward to the new colleague, who will be working with Dr. in the fall. Stephan Kuffner will take up her duties.

Financial situation of the community

The financial situation of the municipality of Biessenhofen appears to be stable. The budget volume remains constant compared to the previous year and amounts to over 20 million euros. The personnel costs are also at the same level. The trade tax brings in 3.2 million euros, which is given to the district office. Thanks to a per capita debt of just 29 euros, the community is almost debt-free.

However, costs are expected to rise significantly in the coming years. The focus is on the new primary school building, which is expected to cost at least 14 million euros by 2028. In addition, the expanded commercial areas between Altdorf and the B 16, which cover almost six hectares, are seen as an important development for local businesses. A planned hypermarket will be located at the roundabout.

Traffic problems and citizen concerns

An important point that was raised at the meeting was the increasing heavy traffic in Altdorf and Ebenhofen. Many citizens find this a great burden. Residents demanded a speed limit, but this was rejected by the district office. In addition, the construction work on the bypass has led to an unsatisfactory traffic situation, as traffic on the toll-free route has increased significantly and accelerated.

At the local level, the community continues to be involved in various projects, such as participation in the nationwide CITY CYCLING campaign. In addition, the website of the libraries in Biessenhofen offers access to over 11,000 media. From September 2025, the Biessenhofen primary school is looking for a Bufdi (m/f/d). The repair work on the Wertachsteg at the middle school is also currently an issue. The footbridge will remain fully closed from May 26th until probably June 27th, 2025, with diversions via the well-known paths along the Wertach.

In summary, the citizens' meeting shows that Biessenhofen not only looks back on successful medical care, but is also facing important economic and infrastructural challenges that will concern citizens and the community in the coming years.
