New TÜV SÜD service center in Ludwigsburg: jobs and modern technology!

TÜV SÜD AG celebrated the opening of a new service center (TSC) in Ludwigsburg today, May 23, 2025. The investment of almost three million euros is intended to cover the growing need for mobility services in the region and at the same time create new jobs. The new TSC is located at Dornierstrasse 8, opposite the old test hall, and offers a comprehensive range of services for cars and trucks, including general and emissions tests as well as theoretical driving license tests.

The opening ceremony attracted numerous visitors, including the mayor of Ludwigsburg, Sebastian Mannl, and high-ranking representatives from TÜV SÜD. There are three lanes in the approximately 400 square meter test hall - two for cars and one for trucks. The administration is housed in 170 square meters, which also includes social rooms.

State-of-the-art technology and sustainable energy use

The new service center is equipped with innovative testing technology and meets the regulations of the current Building Energy Act. A geothermal heat pump is also used to ensure a sustainable energy supply. A double charging station for electric vehicles is ready, and further charging stations are being planned, which will be powered by a photovoltaic system on the roof.

TÜV SÜD's goal is to shorten waiting times for vehicle inspections and create more transparency for customers. To expand the service, customers can follow the inspection process directly on the vehicle. In addition to the regular offers, special services are also provided for classic car enthusiasts.

Responding to increasing demand

The opening of the new TSC is a response to the changing mobility needs of the population. According to the “ TÜV Mobility Study 2024 "Many citizens complain about the congestion in city centers, air pollution and the increasing number of traffic jams and accidents. While car ownership remains high - 80% of Germans own a car and 66% use it every day - surveys show that only a third of car owners are willing to switch to alternative means of transport such as e-scooters or cargo bikes.

The study also highlights that road safety concerns are an important issue, particularly for two-wheel riders. A majority of those surveyed would like to see climate-friendly mobility, the expansion of local public transport and a better infrastructure for two-wheeled transport.

TÜV SÜD's new TSC will play a central role in the provision of mobility services in the future and supports regional efforts to create a sustainable and safe transport infrastructure. The business is open on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For further information, a hotline is available on 0800 8888-090 or the website http://tuvsud.com/hauptprüfung.
