Erfurt signs Miro Markkula: Strengthens the offensive for promotion!
On May 24, 2025, Stuttgart-based EC Rebels, known for its dynamic games in the Oberliga Süd, is proud to announce the signing of Florian Renner, a talented 19-year-old striker. Renner shows promising skills that result from his last season with the Jungadler Mannheim, where he won the DNL title with his team. He has already played 16 games in the Oberliga Süd and scored seven points. Coach Marco Ludwig particularly emphasizes Renner's running and playing qualities, which the team urgently needs to increase their competitiveness after struggling with challenges last season.
The Rebels also had an average attendance of 942 in the 2022/2023 season, which corresponds to an occupancy rate of 50.94% in their home stadium, the Eiswelt Stuttgart. With a capacity of 1,849, the club, which plays in blue and yellow, has a rich history dating back to 1961 when the stadium opened.
Team changes and new additions
The changes in the team continue. While the Rebels are bringing Florian Renner on board, the TecArt Black Dragons Erfurt recently signed Miro Markkula, a 23-year-old striker from Finland. Markkula, who scored 32 points in 43 games for the Hammer Eisbären last season, is seen as an important reinforcement. Erfurt struggled in the previous main round with only 126 goals scored, which is the second worst value in the league. Sports director Henry Tews emphasizes Markkula's strengths, especially his teamwork and defensive skills, which should help the team improve.
In another interesting development, EC Peiting has signed Sebastian Laßmann, a 20-year-old player with major league experience. Laßmann was most recently captain of the ERC Ingolstadt U20 team and collected an impressive 57 points in 45 DNL games. These transfers reflect the trend of clubs recruiting young and talented players to strengthen their squads.
The Rebels' goal
For the Stuttgart EC Rebels, the goal is not only to sign successful players, but also to build a deeper connection with local youth. Under the direction of Dr. Christian Ballarin, the club's first board member, is developing initiatives to further promote ice hockey in Stuttgart. The Rebels not only want to survive in competition, but also play an important role in the community as a club.
In order to coordinate the next steps with regard to the next season, special attention is paid to team chemistry and cohesion. With these new additions and strategic direction, the Rebels are ready to put in a strong performance and excite fans next season.
