Ironman Frankfurt 2025: Everything about the mega event on June 29th!

On June 29, 2025, Frankfurt am Main will once again be the venue for a spectacular triathlon event: The 23rd Mainova IRONMAN European Championship promises to attract athletes and spectators from all over the world. Over 3,000 participants will take on the 225 kilometer route, which includes swimming, cycling and running.

The competition begins with a 3.8 kilometer swim in the Langener Waldsee. The cycle route then leads over 180 kilometers through the Frankfurt area, including the city center, Hanauer Landstrasse and Bergen-Enkheim, before the athletes turn back to Frankfurt via various towns. The final marathon takes a route of 42 kilometers along both sides of the Main, with the finish at the famous Römerberg.

Traffic restrictions and spectator information

Traffic restrictions are expected from 3:30 a.m. to midnight on race day, which could be challenging for many residents. In order to minimize disruption to residents, the organizers ask for your understanding and support, especially with regard to noise. Ironman.com reports that cyclists will also be affected by the road closures.

For drivers, it is advisable to park outside the closed areas and guidance will be provided on how to avoid the route. The central spectator locations include the Langener Waldsee, the Mainkai and the Eiserne Steg, where spectators can cheer on the athletes both while swimming and running. The Alte Brücke, the “THE BEAST” route option in Bergen-Enkheim and the “THE HELL” in Maintal-Hochstadt are particularly popular points of contact for the cycle route.

Public transport and more

The S-Bahn and U-Bahn will run as scheduled, with additional connections on line S6. However, restrictions on trams and buses are to be expected. For detailed information on changes to local public transport, the timetables can be accessed via the RMV service telephone on 069 / 24 24 80 24. In addition, residents and interested parties can view an interactive map of closure times and routes on the Ironman website.

The Finish Line Party will take place at the finish line on the Römerberg from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., which forms the crowning conclusion of the competition. If you have any questions about the event, the IRONMAN hotline is available during the event week from Wednesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on 069 – 212 34 000.
