Volunteering in Mühlhausen: Awards for committed heroes!

The Volunteer Day celebration will take place in Mühlhausen on November 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. The motto of the event is "Volunteering: Your passion. Indispensable for Mühlhausen" and will be held in the conference and cultural center at Schwanenteich. In advance, the citizens of Mühlhausen are called upon to submit proposals for awards to recognize the commitment of people, groups or companies that are particularly committed to the common good. The deadline for submitting nominations is September 30, 2025, with proposals submitted in the previous year automatically being taken into account. The awards are presented in several categories including:

  • Ehrenamtliches Engagement in Kultur, Sport und Soziales
  • Unternehmen des Jahres, die freiwilliges Engagement ihrer Mitarbeitenden fördern
  • Persönliches Engagement außerhalb von Vereinen und Organisationen (z.B. Umwelt- oder Heimatschutz)

Committed groups and associations have the opportunity to present their work at the event, be it through panels or stands. Design support is available upon request. Those interested can find further information and forms on the website muehlhausen.de/ehrenamt find. If you have any questions, please contact Section 2 by email: referat2@muehlhausen.de or by telephone on 03601 452231 or 452291.

Awards for volunteer work

In addition to the upcoming event, there were also recent significant honors for volunteer work in the sports sector. Thomas Rasemann from Post SV Mühlhausen was awarded the GutsMuths plaque of honor in bronze. He received this honor for his services in the field of youth sports as a North Thuringian student and youth manager. The award took place as part of the North Thuringian table tennis district conference, where Rigo Gessner, the chairman of the district association, presented Rasemann with the medal and certificate.

In addition, Elke Kühne from Ballhausen was honored with the silver pin from the Thuringian Table Tennis Association (TTTV), while Harald Biess from TSV Jahn Geisleden previously received the gold pin from the association. Biess, who left office at his own request after eleven years as senior manager, leaves a significant gap as his successor is still being sought.

The honors were acknowledged by TTTV President Uwe Schlütter in the presence of numerous guests who rewarded the passionate work of volunteers in the sports sector. Last season, the national table tennis championships for women and men as well as the performance classes took place in northern Thuringia, which underlines the importance of these awards.

The combination of voluntary commitment and social appreciation shows how important such an event and awards are to recognize the efforts and successes of committed people.
