Tennis fever in Stuttgart: Zverev and Struff start on Whit Monday!
The eagerly awaited tennis tournament begins on Whit Monday at the Weissenhof in Stuttgart. This BOSS Open marks the start of the lawn season and will take place from June 7th to 15th, 2025, making the event a highlight in the German tennis calendar. Three players from the top ten in the world rankings are expected in Stuttgart: Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz (fourth in the world rankings from the USA) and Lorenzo Musetti, the latest top ten debutant from Italy. Alexander Zverev, who is currently ranked third in the world, will land in Stuttgart on Monday afternoon and play his first match in the round of 16 on Thursday. He is considered one of the favorites. Jan-Lennard Struff, last year's finalist, will also play on the center court in the first week of the tournament. He will face Matteo Arnaldi on Monday, but his match doesn't start until 3 p.m. and can be followed live on DF1. Brandon Nakashima, seeded number six, plays the second match on Center Court against Jacob Fearnley.
Tournament course and participation
The first match on each tournament day begins at 11 a.m. Yannick Hanfmann qualified for the main draw with two wins in qualifying, while Patrick Zahraj and Maximilian Marterer were eliminated in qualifying on Saturday. In addition, 17-year-old Justin Engel received a wild card and will play his first game on Tuesday.
A total of eight professional tournaments will take place in Germany in 2025, and the BOSS Open is the fourth in this series. The tournament belongs to the 250cc category, which is also an important platform for many up-and-coming talents.
