Swabian gourmet journey: New inns on the outskirts of Stuttgart!
Swabian cuisine is becoming increasingly popular in the restaurants on the outskirts of Stuttgart. Four outstanding places to stop for refreshments have been established, particularly between the districts of Botnang and Feuerbach. These are embedded in an idyllic setting and invite both locals and visitors to indulge in the culinary highlights.
A recommended goal is the Waldgasthof Mähderklinge, which was opened in May by Max and Julius Göttl. Traditional Swabian dishes are served here, including the popular Gaisburger Marsch, Maultaschen and onion roast roast. In winter, guests can expect a special offer of roast duck and mulled wine, while the hall is festively decorated.
Diversity of Swabian cuisine
The Reiterstüble, run by Kerstin Barth and Alexander Lang, has been an integral part of the gastronomic landscape for 17 years. Up to 150 guests enjoy Swabian specialties such as Maultaschen and schnitzel every day; the number of visitors can increase, especially in the beer garden season. Prices range from 10.80 to 18.90 euros.
Further culinary experiences are offered by the Waldstube in the New Schützenhaus under the direction of Suresh Kamalaraja, which opened during the Corona pandemic, as well as the Gasthaus Grünewald by Dawit Tewolde. The Waldstube scores points with homemade dishes such as Maultaschen and a popular Swabian plate for 17.50 euros. The Grünewald inn specializes in lentils with spaetzle, veal kidneys and ox cheeks, with prices ranging between 11.50 and 20.60 euros. The focus here is particularly on home-style Swabian cuisine.
The Göttls in the Waldgasthof expand the offering with modern dishes and their own beer and wine. However, the beer garden season ends in mid-October, followed by reduced opening hours for the cold season.
Swabian specialties in the city
The Swabian metropolis of Stuttgart also offers a variety of opportunities to enjoy Swabian cuisine in the city center. Loud Stuttgart tourist Dishes such as Maultaschen and Spätzle are particularly popular. At Gasthaus Bären, guests can try Swabian tapas, while in Carl's Brauhaus Traditional cuisine is offered on Schlossplatz. The Stuttgarter Stäffele has enjoyed great popularity for over 50 years and impresses with regional ingredients and classic dishes.
