The most important folk festival in Swabia is just around the corner: The Cannstatter Volksfest, also colloquially known as “the Wasen”, is taking place for the 178th time this year. From theSeptember 26th to October 12th, 2023Visitors can look forward to an unforgettable time on the banks of the Neckar in Stuttgart. The Cannstatter Volksfest has a long tradition: It was founded in 1818 at the request of King Wilhelm I of Württemberg to send a sign of hope after a year without summer. The first celebration was originally an agricultural festival and over the years it developed into the key event it is today. Getting to the folk festival is easy thanks to the Cannstatter Wasen tram stop. Visitors can arrive by bike, bus, train or car.
