The largest puzzle in the world: 54,000 pieces in the Carré Bad Cannstatt!

In Bad Cannstatt, a district of Stuttgart, visitors can recently admire a unique work of art: the largest puzzle in the world, consisting of 54,000 individual pieces. It took Burkhard Klemm, a trained painter and varnisher, one and a half years. His artwork is titled “Travel around Art” and features famous paintings by artists such as Gustav Klimt to Vincent van Gogh. The exhibition is located in the Carré Bad Cannstatt, Wildunger Straße 2-4. Klemm began assembling the 54,000 pieces on March 8, 2023 and completed the project on October 3, 2024. The puzzle pieces came in 27 bags, each containing 2,000 pieces. Unfortunately, eight parts were missing, which were recreated by an artist friend. The total purchase price for the puzzle was around 500 euros, and the work of art will be on display in the Carré Bad Cannstatt until autumn 2025. A shopping center as an art stage

The Carré Bad Cannstatt, where the puzzle is exhibited, offers around 22,000 square meters of space for around 40 shops. The decision to place such a work of art in a shopping center attracts the interest of both customers and art lovers. The exhibition in this context enables an exciting connection between commerce and art.

Klemm is already planning his next puzzle, which will have a Hawaiian theme and consist of 5,040 pieces. This new project aims to highlight the impressive possibilities that arise when combining art and puzzles. Visitors who want to marvel at the largest puzzle in the world now have the opportunity to do so until autumn 2025.
