In Weinstadt-Beutelsbach, traffic on Schurwaldstrasse will face significant restrictions in the coming weeks. From the start of the Whitsun holidays on Saturday, June 7, 2025, work on laying a new fiber optic network will begin. This measure means that half of the road will be closed in order to carry out the construction work for the digital infrastructure. The entire expansion is to be carried out in two construction phases in order to keep traffic disruptions as low as possible. According to ZVW, the closure is expected to last several weeks until the work is completed.
The expansion of the fiber optic network is being carried out by Stadtwerke Weinstadt and affects a total of 13,000 households in the region. The first construction phase began in February/March 2023 and included around 1,300 households in Strrumpfelbach and 1,700 in Schnait. These measures are part of a larger goal of connecting 90% of households in the Endersbach and Beutelsbach districts as well as all residential and commercial areas in Großheppach, Schnait and Strrumpfelbach to the digital future by 2030.
