Stuttgart: Grandpa thanks Waiblingen for returning the forgotten backpack!
On November 11, 2025, Hans-Georg Glaser from Stuttgart expressed his thanks for returning a forgotten backpack. The backpack belonged to his grandson and was forgotten during a youth handball game in Waiblingen-Neustadt. The return was carried out by city employees, especially caretakers, who found the backpack. What was particularly pleasing for Grandpa Glaser was that there was one in his backpack VVS polygo map which can be used for various mobility offers.
In an email, Glaser announced his joy at the return and pointed out the valuable contents of the backpack. The polygoCard itself combines several offers in a single wallet and allows, for example, use as a ticket for local public transport, cashless payment at charging stations for electric vehicles and the booking of car sharing and rental bicycles. More offers will be added in the long term.
Mobility and advanced solutions
The polygoCard is part of the “Stuttgart Services” research project, which is funded by the federal government. 23 partners from various areas, including local transport, industry, software and science, are working on this innovative project. The leadership lies with the Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB). VVS and SSB subscribers receive the polygoCard when they purchase their ticket, while every citizen in Stuttgart can order the card independently.
With regard to the return and discovery of items, the Stuttgart S-Bahn refers to the applicable regulations. According to § 978 (1) BGB Finders are obliged to return found items immediately. Such items that are found on the train or station area should be handed over to employees immediately. It is advisable to request written confirmation of the submission.
The finders are also entitled to a finder's fee if the item found is worth at least 50 euros. Of course, some requirements must be met for this. Among other things, the finder must not be an employee of DB AG or its subsidiaries. The finder's fee is 2.5% for values between 50 and 500 euros and 1.5% for amounts above that.
The positive experiences surrounding the discovery of the backpack show that even in stressful moments there is a human side that you can trust. In this matter, Grandpa Glaser has proven that gratitude and appreciation are of great importance for such relief efforts.
