Ösch procession & vintage car meeting: A celebration for Schwäbisch Gmünd!
On May 29, 2025, around 100 people gathered in Schwäbisch Gmünd-Herdtlinsweiler for a festive event. The traditional Ösch procession took place on Ascension Day, led by Pastor Daniel Psenner. The Eucharist was celebrated in the open air, supported by hunting horn players and the Bettringen church choir. In a touching speech, Faten Mukaker discussed the living conditions in Palestine.
The Ösch procession is an important event for the community and offered the participants a space for reflection and communal worship. There was singing and prayer, which marked the ceremony. Parallel to this spiritual event, the third classic car meeting took place in Herdtlinsweiler, organized by the classic car friends “Hadlaburg”.
Classic car meeting with a variety of vehicles
Tobias Porstner, a member of the village development association, expressed his satisfaction with the way the event went, which presented a colorful mix of vintage and youngtimers. Among the vehicles on display was an orange and white Bulli T 2 from Gisela Ocker and the Horex Columbus from Achim Klotz Bücher, which is over 90 years old. Angela and Josef Lemmermeyer drove a restored BMW-Dixi DA 1 from 1928, with Josef working on the restoration for over eight years.
Walter Zimmer also presented his Agria “drawbar rider”, an agricultural implement that is an impressive 70 years old. The event attracted participants from various directions, including MB Trucks and Deutzzieher. Two fire engines were also on display, one with a four-wheel drive and one with a two-wheel pedal drive. The village development association had prepared a diverse culinary offering for the visitors, including grilled specialties as well as cakes and tarts.
Upper cooperation network of processions
While the spiritual and motorized community came together in Herdtlinsweiler, ecumenical celebrations also took place in the surrounding area. For example, the Ösch processions in Berg, Blitzenreute and Fronhofen were canceled the evening before due to uncertain weather conditions, which underlines the importance of community and cohesion. In Mochenwangen and Wolpertswende, around 60 people took part in the festive processions, stopping at various stations to sing and pray.
These events not only showcase the cultural and spiritual aspects of the region, but also bring people of different interests together. Schwäbisch Gmünd's classic car enthusiasts, who organize regular meetings, emphasize precisely this community spirit and contribute to local identity. The next meetings are already being planned, including the regulars' table on June 14, 2025 and the classic car meetings throughout the year.
