Schwaben-Park says goodbye to Wilde Hilde” – too exciting for families?
The Schwaben Park in Kaisersbach will soon say goodbye to the “Wilde Hilde” roller coaster. As krzbb.de reports, the attraction will close at the end of the season on November 2nd, 2025 dismantled. Park CEO André Hudelmaier explained that this decision was made based on surveys that showed that “Wilde Hilde” was too exciting for many families with small children.
The roller coaster, which was inaugurated seven years ago as a world first, was a special attraction. Its innovative roller coaster type, known as “Roller Ball”, was developed by Ride Engineers Switzerland and won several industry awards. The ride begins with a spectacular 21-meter vertical lift, followed by a zigzag descent that leaves riders' legs dangling freely. This exciting combination of thrill ride and roller coaster also attracted international guests.
Cause of degradation
Although the “Wilde Hilde” was successful in the park, it turned out that the ride was not the right fit for families with children. Hudelmaier emphasized that dismantling the attraction was not easy for the park team. The “Wilde Hilde” was not only a technical masterpiece, but also a homage to the park’s founder, Sieghardt Hudelmaier. Their absurdities demanded a decision that had to take into account not only the attractiveness of the park, but also the safety of the families.
Schwaben-Park is planning to sell “Wilde Hilde” to another amusement park in Germany. This approach not only keeps the memory of the roller coaster alive in the park, but also allows other parks to benefit from this attraction.
New attractions in prospect
Schwaben-Park will introduce a new ride to replace the “Wilde Hilde”. There are already three new attractions on the shortlist. This could be an opportunity to bring a breath of fresh air to the park and appeal to even more families. It is important that the existing classic roller coaster “Force One” remains in the park, as its driving and seating situation is viewed as less problematic and more family-friendly.
Overall, the dismantling of the “Wilde Hilde” is a drastic change for Schwaben-Park, but the hope for new, exciting attractions remains. Despite all the changes, the memory of the roller coaster remains, viewed not only as a ride, but also as an important piece of park history.
