On June 6, 2025, an extraordinary football game took place in Alfdorf that revived the traditional history of VfB Stuttgart. The traditional VfB team competed against a selection from ZF Lifetec. Despite the bad weather, which was characterized by heavy rain, numerous spectators came to witness this spectacle. The impetus was given by Christina Stumpp, a member of the Bundestag.

The VfB Stuttgart all-stars completely dominated the first half. Felix Luz scored the first goal in the 5th minute. By halftime, Denis Berger (11th minute), Cacau (19th minute), Matthias Hagner (26th minute), Marco Grüttner (34th minute) and Hansi Müller (45th minute) increased the score to a breathtaking half-time score of 6-0. This performance spoke volumes about the footballing skills of VfB legends, including Guido Buchwald and Cacau, who shone in this game.

An exciting gameplay

In the second half, the traditional team continued its successful course. Marco Grüttner and Martin Lanig were able to extend the lead to 8-0 within a few minutes. The consolation goal for ZF Lifetec came in the 60th minute from Günter Schweizer, who made it 8-1. But the VfB oldies did not remain idle, and goals from Lanig (64th minute), Christian Träsch (67th minute), Sven Hägele (68th minute) and Tim Adam (70th minute) ensured the score was 3:10. The final score was extended to an impressive 3:14 thanks to goals from Cacau (73rd minute), Milan Jurkovic (79th minute), Träsch (86th minute) and Vaccaro (89th minute).

The mayor of Alfdorf, Ronald Krötz, acted as referee for the game and thus provided an additional highlight to the event. The sporting event was organized by Carsten Fercho, youth leader of FC Alfdorf, together with his colleagues Lothar Bulling, Predrag Dzaja and Cris-Simon Barth.
