Serious accidents on B29: full closure near Mögglingen! Traffic stops!

On Monday afternoon, June 2, 2025, two serious traffic accidents occurred on Federal Highway 29. The first accident was reported to the police at 4:30 p.m., and the road in the direction of Stuttgart was then completely closed from 4:35 p.m. This happened near Hermannsfeld near Essingen, where a Citroën driver lost control of her vehicle due to the rain-soaked road and overturned. Fortunately, the driver only suffered minor injuries, but her car was significantly damaged. The police secured the scene of the accident and a towing service was requested to recover the vehicle. According to Remszeitung, further details are not yet available at this time, but the police will provide further information shortly.

The second accident occurred about 18 minutes later, around 4:18 p.m., also on the B29, but near Iggingen. A police patrol car was involved, which was possibly on the way to the scene of the accident near Essingen. The exact circumstances and potential injuries in the second accident are currently unclear. Both incidents are causing massive traffic disruptions in the Schwäbisch Gmünd region and near Essingen, which is why drivers are being asked to avoid the affected areas. The Schwäbische Post reports that the police will soon provide more information here too.

Traffic obstructions and bypasses

The two accidents not only have serious consequences for those affected, but also for all traffic in the region. Drivers should take extra care and avoid the affected area to avoid further disruption. The current traffic situation shows that federal highway 29 near Essingen and Iggingen is severely affected, leading to long traffic jams.

The police hope to normalize the traffic situation as quickly as possible by securing the accident sites and supporting the towing service. Until then, however, significant traffic restrictions on the B29 will continue to be expected. Like the Remzeitung and the Schwäbische Post report, further information on the accidents can be expected shortly. It remains to be hoped that everyone involved can be cared for quickly and easily and that traffic can flow unhindered again soon.
