Clear goal: Will Bayern talent Ibrahimović return to Nuremberg?

1. FC Nürnberg is set for a fresh start as the new season begins on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. After 36 days of vacation, the team regrouped under the leadership of coach Miroslav Klose. Klose, who also has a keen interest in developing young talent, is facing a personnel shake-up as eleven professionals have left the club. This presents those responsible with the challenge of closing the gaps.

The focus of transfer activities is Arijon Ibrahimović, a 19-year-old talent from FC Bayern. Ibrahimović, who was born in Nuremberg and played in FCN's youth team from 2014 to 2018, could consider returning to his old club. According to Bild a loan deal is currently being worked on. Heidenheim has also expressed interest in the player, but a decision on the loan is expected this week.

Personnel developments

During preparation, some players, including Jannik Hofmann, have the chance to prove themselves. On the other hand, there are loan players like Iván Márquez, Ali Loune and Manuel Wintzheimer who have been released. It is planned to also loan out goalkeeper Michal Kukucka and Nicolas Ortegel. Another important missing piece of the puzzle is young star Jander, who is taking part in the European Championships with the Slovakia U21s and is therefore not available for the start of training. His future at the club remains uncertain.

In the transfer situation, FC Nürnberg has already signed seven external signings and plans to sign at least three more players to strengthen the team. This could be particularly important for Ibrahimović, as he only gained sporadic match practice at FC Bayern last season. In the first half of the season he only played 16 minutes with the professionals, and at Lazio Rome, where he played in the second half of the season, he was also not very successful with only 19 minutes of playing time, which led to his purchase option not being used. A move to Nuremberg could give him the opportunity to get more playing time. However, there are also reports that other clubs are interested in signing him, which could increase competition for Ibrahimović.

Preparatory games and training camps

In order to optimally prepare for the upcoming season, 1. FC Nürnberg has already scheduled three preparatory games. These take place on the following dates:

  • 1. Juli gegen 1. FC Hersbruck (18.30 Uhr)
  • 12. Juli gegen Drittliga-Aufsteiger Schweinfurt 05
  • 26. Juli gegen Borussia Mönchengladbach (14 Uhr)

A training camp is also planned in South Tyrol from July 13th to 20th, although the opponent for the test games on site has not yet been determined. These various measures show that FC Nürnberg is well prepared to start the new season and at the same time concentrate on further sporting development.
