Hot summer in the Heidenheim district: cooling off and events tempting!

High temperatures are currently affecting the Heidenheim district. Many residents are looking for ways to cool off in the water to recover from the heat. An overview of the best places for this is already available. The leisure activities will be supplemented by the upcoming events next weekend.

The last charity musical gala will take place on Saturday, June 21st, followed by the Heidenheim Riding Club's anniversary tournament, which will feature a special supporting program. On Sunday, June 22nd, the Stängle family dairy farm will open its doors to those interested.

DRK starts door-to-door advertising

An important topic in the Heidenheim district is the upcoming door-to-door advertising by the German Red Cross (DRK), which begins on June 30, 2025. This campaign aims to attract new supporting members who are necessary for the organization's diverse tasks. According to information from DRK Bad Salzuflen The DRK plays a central role in caring for the injured, saving lives, donating blood and supporting weaker population groups.

The board member Klaus-Jürgen Wolf emphasized the importance of new supporting members for long-term planning and the training of volunteers. The association relies on the help of residents as a lot of income has been lost due to the corona pandemic. The recruiters who come to the house as part of this campaign can be identified as students who are working on a holiday job.

The challenges of the DRK

The corona pandemic presented the DRK with major challenges as many sources of income disappeared. There are currently over 850 volunteers working around the clock in the district. Urgent digitalization projects to improve communication channels are required to continue to meet the need for support. Hygiene measures for missions and visitor facilities were also increased as a result of the pandemic.

The door-to-door advertising starts in the Bad Salzuflen urban area and will include other places such as Oerlinghausen, Leopoldshöhe and many more. All new supporting members’ data is recorded securely via tablets and no cash or in-kind donations are accepted. If you have any questions about the advertising campaign, you can contact the DRK district association by telephone.

In addition to the DRK advertising, the Wentalhalle construction site in Steinheim remains active, and the planned expansion of the daycare center in Großkuchen is scheduled to be completed this year. It was also decided to convert a room in the town hall for care purposes.

Another highlight in the region is a new model racing track “Carrera 2.0”, a youth project of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Gerstetten. The Härtsfeld Museum Railway is also planning events in the coming weeks, and the Giengen town band invites you to the town hall serenade on Sunday, July 13th, which takes up the topic of women's power.

In the world of sport, the FC Härtsfeld footballers had to accept a setback: They missed promotion to the regional league after a narrow 0-1 defeat against FV Asch-Sonderbuch. Coach Michael Schwarz was still satisfied with the season and the effort of his team.
