A tragic accident in Wiefelstede claimed the life of a 77-year-old cyclist from Oldenburg on Wednesday, June 12, 2025. The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. on Heidkamper Landstrasse when the cyclist was traveling with an acquaintance on the left-hand cycle path towards Wiefelstede.
The cyclist wanted to cross the street at the “Hoher Kamp” junction when he overlooked a motorcycle driven by a 16-year-old motorcyclist from Wiefelstede. This carelessness led to a sideways collision between the two vehicles, in which both the cyclist and the motorcyclist fell.
Injuries and rescue measures
The motorcyclist suffered minor injuries in the accident, while the 77-year-old suffered serious injuries. Two ambulances and an emergency ambulance were immediately sent to the scene of the accident. The cyclist was immediately taken to the Evangelical Hospital in Oldenburg. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his serious injuries that night.
