SENSATIONAL HOME AWARD: Hospice Association Niederberg revolutionizes grief!
In a breathtaking ceremony in the Forum Velbert, which was undoubtedly a SENSATIONAL EVENT, the coveted Homeland Prize of the city of Velbert was awarded on September 4th, 2025. With brilliant speeches and an emotionally charged ambience, this event was nothing short of historic! Mayor Dirk Lukrafka honored the outstanding award winners and said with pride: “Their achievements far exceed the limits of volunteer work!”
And now to the shocking results that captivated the audience! First place went to Hospice Association Niederberg – an association that, with its innovative “Wind Telephone” project, transforms the tragedy of loss into a source of hope. In a telephone booth, grieving relatives can express their deepest thoughts and feelings after a painful loss - a remarkable initiative that promotes a dignified approach to the topic of death and at the same time creates personal connection!
The captivating second and third places
But that's not all! He came in second place Association for Velbert children, who has fought steadfastly for children in need for over 20 years! Their 21st Wishing Tree campaign, which offers children Christmas surprises, is the absolute emotional highlight of the festive season. Together with the mayor's office, your heart's desires will be fulfilled and pure joy will be spread!
Last but not least received the Velbert Volunteer Agency third place for her admired project “Family Sponsors”, which has been supporting families in difficult life situations since 2013. Volunteer sponsors willingly help in everyday life and not only offer help with homework, but also personal support that brings inclusion and joy of life back into everyday life!
A prize of hope and light!
The Heimat Prize, an ambitious project of the Ministry for Homeland, Municipal Affairs, Construction and Digitalization of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, represents an exciting initiative to promote social commitment. The jury - consisting of members of the main and finance committee as well as young people from the speaker team of the Youth Parliament - selected the prize winners and thus demonstrated an incomparable sense of deserved commitment to the community.
A festive evening full of devotion, coping with grief and hope! We applaud all award winners for their tireless efforts! In a world that is often falling apart, such stories of compassion and humanity are the true essence of life. Don't miss out on sharing this because these community movements are just INCREDIBLE!
