NINERS Chemnitz sign Ty Brewer: New hope for the season!

The NINERS Chemnitz have strengthened themselves in the current transfer season and signed Ty Brewer. The 25-year-old winger, who previously worked for SYNTAINICS MBC in Weißenfels, will play for Chemnitz in the future. In his last two meetings against the Niners, Brewer scored an impressive 47 points and established himself as a top performer last season, in which his team had its most successful season in years with a Cup victory and a place in the playoff quarter-finals. The contract with Brewer initially applies to the coming season and includes an option for a second year, as Chemnitz 99 reports.

The commitment is part of a realignment plan after the troubled 2024 season, which ended for the NINERS with elimination from the Champions League in January and failure in the quarter-finals of the Easycredit Basketball Bundesliga to MLP Academics Heidelberg. To overcome future challenges, the team focuses on players who have already gained proven experience in competitions.

Ty Brewer's strengths

Brewer, who is 2.01 meters tall and can play as a small forward and power forward, is considered a versatile player with an excellent work ethic. Coach Rodrigo Pastore particularly emphasizes his defensive qualities. In the NCAA, Brewer played a total of 152 competitive games between 2018 and 2023, in which he averaged 9.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. In his final season at MBC, he averaged 10.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 42 competitive games. His shooting percentages were 56% from two-point range and 39% from three-point range, highlighting his ability to perform both offensively and defensively, as SportBild notes.

Brewer will arrive in Chemnitz at the beginning of August to take part in pre-season preparation, which will include at least eight test games. This represents an important building block for the NINERS to optimally prepare for the coming season.

Further developments in the BBL

At the same time, there are numerous other changes in the BBL environment. At SYNTAINICS MBC they are parting ways with many players and are counting on a change under the new coach Marco Ramondino. New signings are already in sight, such as 26-year-old Collin Welp, who is moving from BG Göttingen to MBC. Welp is the son of BBL legend Christian Welp. In addition, Nic Welp, Collin's brother, leaves for Germany and joins the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim.

Coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz will continue to lead the Rostock Seawolves after extending his contract by one year. Captain Sid-Marlon Theis will also remain part of the team, while Pedro Bradshaw has been dropped after 14 appearances. The MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg recorded the most transfers last season with 26 player changes.

Overall, the BBL remains exciting, as further new additions and possible departures are expected in the coming weeks. The teams appear to be well prepared to face a challenging new season together.
