Head-on collision in Althütte: the driver is suspected of taking drugs!

On Saturday afternoon there was a serious traffic accident in Althütte, which caused significant damage to property and potential dangers for road users. Loud Stuttgart News A Mercedes Sprinter and a Mercedes C-Class collided head-on while both vehicles were driving on the district road between Lippoldsweiler and Althütte-Sechselberg. The reason for the collision is currently unclear, but both vehicles had previously moved too far in the middle of the road.

After the impact, the two cars left the road. Fortunately, the drivers - a 25-year-old man in the Sprinter and a 36-year-old man in the C-Class - remained uninjured. However, a following BMW was damaged by debris from the accident. There was significant damage to the two Mercedes vehicles and both had to be towed away.

Blood was taken on suspicion of drugs

The police found evidence of drug use on the part of the suspect, the driver of the sprinter. This led to a blood sample being ordered and the man's driver's license being confiscated. This is not the first incident in the region involving drugs and alcohol. A similar incident occurred just a few weeks ago on the B14 near Waldrems.

As reported by Swabian Post, a 34-year-old driver of a Skoda lost control of his vehicle on Sunday evening, May 19, 2025, while driving at excessive speeds and under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The driver was on the way from Stuttgart to Backnang when his vehicle veered off the road to the right and damaged various traffic facilities. He ultimately came to a stop in a furniture store parking lot and suffered serious injuries.

In this case, a blood sample was also taken and the driver's license also had to be handed in. The estimated material damage was around 35,000 euros. The police are investigating on suspicion of endangering road traffic.

Recent incidents raise questions about road safety and the dangers of drug and alcohol use. Authorities and law enforcement must remain vigilant to ensure road safety and prevent further accidents of this type.
