Motorcycle checks in Ludwigsburg: 34 violations discovered!

Last Saturday, the police in the Ludwigsburg district carried out motorcycle checks in temperatures of almost 30 degrees. The control locations included Vaihingen-Gündelbach, Horrheim and Häfnerhaslach. The aim of these comprehensive measures was to uncover technical defects in the vehicles, punish speeding and talk to the bikers. In a period of just five hours, a total of 240 motorcyclists were checked, with police finding a large number of violations.

There were 34 reports during the motorcycle checks. These were created because of worn tires, missing papers or unauthorized attachments. In addition, 48 drivers were traveling too fast; Among these were two motorcyclists who had a speed of over 100 km/h at one point 70 km/h. Six of the drivers checked now face a driving ban. However, the police were also able to draw a positive conclusion: Most of the motorcycles checked were in perfect condition and illegal conversions were the exception. This is based on a report by Ludwigsburg24 out.

Results and outlook

In total, more than 1,000 motorcycles were checked in May. The police deployed prevention teams to provide support, which were supplemented by historic police motorcycles from the Stuttgart Police Museum, among others. This presence not only provided a positive environment for the motorcycles, but also promoted bikers' awareness of safety requirements.

The fines for traffic violations for motorcycles are essentially comparable to those for car drivers. Speeding outside of urban areas is penalized as follows:

Exceedance (km/h) Fine (€) Points
Until 10 20 no
11 – 15 40 no
16 – 20 60 no
21 – 25 100 1
26 – 30 150 1 (1 month driving ban)
31 – 40 200 1 (1 month driving ban)
41 – 50 320 2 (1 month driving ban)
51 – 60 480 2 (1 month driving ban)
Over 70 700 3 (3 months driving ban)

Motorcyclists, like car drivers, are bound by the road traffic regulations and must adhere to regulations, including speed limits and safety regulations such as the requirement to wear a helmet. Offenses relating to tuning, lighting and other regulations also result in fines, which usually closely follow the same regulations for car drivers. In this way, the police ensure that all road users in the region are traveling safely and, through these checks, bring about a positive change in the driving behavior of motorcyclists.
