Kornwestheim: 1,150 euros for the aquarium friends' renovation project!
On May 31, 2025, a charity game by FC Schwaben Kornwestheim took place on the sports field on Bogenstrasse in Kornwestheim, which brought in a donation of 1,150 euros for the Aquarium and Terrarium Friends Kornwestheim e.V. This generous sum is earmarked for the renovation of the Aquarium Friends' clubhouse, whose condition has suffered considerably following water damage. The first chairman of the association, Thomas Kenserski, and the second chairman, Martina Knödler, are pleased about the support, which is also intended to strengthen the sense of community in the city. In addition to the football game, the event also included an open hut and volunteers to provide food for the spectators, which contributed to the social atmosphere.
The renovation of the clubhouse began in March 2023. The need to renew the counter system and external wall is preceded by water damage, which requires the purchase of a new counter - the old one was 25 years old - and the renovation of the affected wall. Club members are actively involved in dismantling the old counter and in the preparations. The work will continue during a four-week break at the restaurant. The measures include dismantling the old counter, exposing the wall as well as plastering and painting by the members themselves.
Commitment and community
The association is not only a place for aquarium and terrarium lovers, but is also actively involved in the community. With over 170 members, the association takes part in city events such as the Stadtputzete and the Kornwestheimer Tage. It also offers young people who have committed crimes the opportunity to do community service and learn craft skills. These initiatives show how important the Aquarium Friends are to the local community and illustrate the importance of club life in Kornwestheim.
The entire community is showing solidarity, and the donations from the charity game will make a valuable contribution to renovating the aquarium friends' clubhouse. Plans include, among other things, the renewal and expansion of the electrical supply lines and the installation of the new counter by a local carpenter, supported by the members of the association. The goal is to reopen the clubhouse as soon as possible, which is scheduled for April 2025.
Further information about the renovation and support options can be found on the crowdfunding page GoFundMe. In the coming months, the city of Kornwestheim can once again experience how committed citizens and associations work together to strengthen the community and offer Norberen.
