Café Auszeit” in Kornwestheim: A new meeting place for caring relatives
An important model project called “Café Auszeit” began today in the Ludwigsburg district, offering caring relatives a new meeting place. The aim of this offer is to promote exchange and support for people who care for relatives. The events have been starting since May and take place once a month in Kornwestheim.
The “Café Auszeit” is held in the common room of the senior living complex at Herrmannstrasse 12-14. Here, those involved have the opportunity to exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere over coffee and pastries. Important events have already been scheduled for the next dates: the open café will be offered on June 17th, August 12th, October 16th and December 18th, while two nursing training courses will take place on July 17th and September 25th. Other topics that will be covered throughout the year include care and health care powers of attorney, which will be the focus on November 13th.
Support from the Nursing Innovation Program
The “Café Auszeit” project is part of the comprehensive “PflegeAuszeit – short-term care in a home setting” program, which is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs’ Innovation Program Care 2023. This program has the overarching goal of enabling those in need of care in Baden-Württemberg to live a self-determined life at home. At the same time, short-term care is intended to relieve and stabilize home care situations. social ministry.baden-wuerttemberg.de reports that around 3 million euros are already available for the 2025 funding program to promote the expansion and further development of short-term, night and day care offers.
In addition, investments have already been made in this form of care in previous funding rounds. A total of around 100 new places are available in day and short-term care in order to strengthen outpatient care and support for caring relatives. The Evangelische Hochschule Ludwigsburg supports and evaluates the “Café Auszeit” project in order to ensure the effectiveness of this climate-friendly initiative.
