Honors and successes: Youth fire department in Freudental shines at events!
In the community of Freudental, significant honors were recently awarded by the district youth fire department. Youth speakers reported on various events that took place this year at the event. These included a forum in Remseck on the topic of values work and communication as well as the district cup tournament in Möglingen. Particularly worth mentioning were the tent camp in Immenreuth and the successful performance brace acceptance test in Stuttgart, in which four groups from the district took part. Mayor Alexander Fleig emphasized the essential role of youth work within the fire department and noted that around 50 percent of the emergency services in Freudental come from young people. “All 39 communities in the district have a youth fire department,” he added.
Klaus Haug, the chairman of the district fire brigade association, emphasized the importance of the youth brigades for the community. Deputy district fire chief Matthias Häussler praised the tireless work of the around 400 people responsible in the youth departments. As part of the awards, ten carers and youth officers from Grötzinger received awards for their commitment. Marcel Münchow was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Youth Fire Department's Gold Badge of Honor, while eight other youth wardens received the silver pin: Daniel Alt (Freiberg), Noa Baier (Vaihingen Enz), Michael Goldmann (Remseck), Kai Philipp (Erligheim), Maximilian Schäfer (Benningen am Neckar), Nik Staudenrausch (Bönnigheim), Dennis Wägerle (Mundelsheim) and Marc Weber (Bönnigheim) and Philipp Wurster (Murr).
Outlook for the coming years
Some events are already planned for 2026. The national competition, which will take place in July, is particularly exciting. This competition is the most important of the German youth fire brigade and takes place every two years at the federal level. The prerequisite for participation is prior qualification through community or district competitions.
The national competition consists of two main parts: the A part, which includes a fire extinguishing exercise, and the B part, a 400-meter relay race that tests the participants' speed and coordination. Each team consists of nine members and one substitute, and the team clothing must correspond to the personal protective equipment of the youth fire department. The young people must be at least 10 years old on the day of the competition, but are allowed to take part up to the age of 18.
