Amazon opened logistics center in Bietigheim: 2,000 jobs in sight!
Amazon has big plans for the city of Bietigheim in the Rastatt district, Baden-Württemberg. A new logistics center is to be built there, which will create around 2,000 jobs. This information was provided in detail by Mercury published. The Bietigheim municipal council approved the project on Tuesday evening, which Mayor Constantin Braun emphasized as an opportunity for new jobs and training positions as well as for strengthening the municipality as a business location.
Bietigheim is about 17 kilometers from Karlsruhe and had around 6,500 residents at the end of 2023. The future logistics center will be located on a 180,000 square meter site in the Bietigheim industrial area, between the A5 and B3 streets. The property was originally used for gravel and sand mining in the 1970s, but has now become partially forested.
Logistics center details
The new warehouse will be designed to store small and medium-sized goods, with capacity for approximately 20 million items. The jobs will mainly be created in the areas of logistics, technology and management. However, the planning phase is still early and planning applications have not yet been submitted, which is why it is unclear when the logistics center will actually be completed. In Germany, Amazon operates a total of 100 locations, 23 of which are logistics centers daily news reported.
Baden-Württemberg currently has ten Amazon locations with around 3,000 employees. These new development prospects can support the regional economy, especially in the logistics sector. The creation of new jobs in Bietigheim could further strengthen the region's competitive advantage.
Amazon in Germany
Amazon has more than 36,000 permanent employees in Germany, many of them in logistics. The online giant operates over 60 logistics centers in Europe, with several more openings in the pipeline, including future locations in Erfurt and Horn-Bad Meinberg. Many of these logistics centers not only focus on employment, but also on social responsibility, for example through volunteer work and support for training and further education. These include, among other things, training offers in the areas of logistics and dual study programs, such as those from About Amazon explained.
Amazon workers benefit from a competitive compensation package and additional benefits, including bonuses, local transportation subsidies and company pension plans.
