On May 24, 2025, VfB Stuttgart celebrated its fourth DFB Cup victory, an event that not only underlines the club's sporting ambitions, but also the close connection to its mineral water partner aquaRömer, which has been the club's exclusive mineral water partner since 2021. With the successful continuation of the partnership, which has been extended until the 2024/25 season, both sides are expressing their commitment to the region and further strengthening their cooperation.
aquaRömer, a medium-sized family business based in the Schwäbisch Hall district, relies on regionality. The company supplies its customers from a maximum distance of 300 kilometers and follows strict environmental standards in production. With around 120 million bottles filled every year, aquaRömer is a significant supplier in the region. The focus is on sustainability, as the company only uses glass and PET reusable packaging.
Regionality as the key to the brand
aquaRömer's marketing strategy is strongly influenced by regionality. Due to distribution limits, TV advertising is not possible. Instead, the company relies on event marketing and presence at VfB home games as well as at regional events such as the BOSS Open, the International Animated Film Festival and local wine festivals. Nadja Ohlendorf, the managing director of aquaRömer, emphasizes the importance of brand touchpoints and sensory experiences to connect with consumers.
This close cooperation between aquaRömer and VfB Stuttgart is also reflected in the preference for highly mineralized water, which is available to both players and fans. Rouven Kasper from VfB highlights the partnership-based cooperation, which is based on passion and commitment to the local community.
Success through partnerships
The company has seen sales of glass containers increase by over 25% since 2023, demonstrating the brand's continued success. An increase in rotation of over 45% underlines the positive development. aquaRömer actively communicates via social media and integrates retail to increase visibility and presence in the public.
The broad product portfolio includes, among others, the Aqua Römer Quelle, the Naturpark Quelle, the Mainhardter Römerquelle and the Leicht & Fit lemonades. In addition, aquaRömer is the exclusive license partner for Baden-Württemberg and Saarland of the popular lemonade brand “deit”. With a team of around 110 employees and an agile structure, aquaRömer can react quickly to market needs.
