Waldi transforms Haribo bears into a dazzling aquarium!
The love for Haribo is not only great in Germany, people all over the world also enjoy the colorful gold bears. Walter “Waldi” Lehnertz, known from the ZDF junk show “Bares für Rares”, recently bought an old sales stand for Haribo bears and is implementing his creative vision. For the considerable sum of 100 euros, Waldi purchased the big yellow bear to give it a new life as an aquarium. A lot of work and creativity went into redesigning the bear: Waldi unscrewed the object and installed an 80 liter aquarium inside.
The total cost of the redesign is around 440 euros, with 170 euros for the aquarium and another 170 euros for decorative materials. Waldi estimates that the value of the converted bear could rise to 800 to 900 euros if he successfully completes the transformation. Such projects show how creative dealers can be in the second life of their objects and bring back renewed pride and interest in classic products.
New dealer brings a breath of fresh air
Another notable face on the show is Anaisio Guedes, who has been part of the “Bares for Rares” trading team since June 24, 2024. The native Brazilian has an exciting life story: Growing up in the Amazon jungle, he began his career as a trader in São Paulo when he was just twelve years old, where he sold chocolate in a subway station. Over the years, Guedes has made remarkable progress and in 2015 realized his dream of opening his own gallery at Hamburg Airport, which initially started as a pop-up store.
Guedes, who speaks five languages fluently, comes with a poignant life story. Despite only spending ten months at school, he earned his educational qualifications. Regardless, he also brings his experiences and optimism to the show. Also worth mentioning is his autobiography “No risk, no chance: The biography of a courageous optimist”, which was published in 2022 and tells of his tireless will. ZDF became aware of Guedes through an unsolicited application, and he has been bringing a breath of fresh air to the show ever since.
The world of Haribo
The Haribo brand not only stands for colorful sweets, but also for innovation and growth. Their products are available in more than 120 countries. The product range is constantly expanding with new confectionery products and acquisitions of quality brands. In addition, a close-knit sales and production network is being expanded to develop special sweets tailored to national tastes. Haribo continues to be an important company on the global market and connects generations with joy and enjoyment.
Overall, the stories of Waldi Lehnertz and Anaisio Guedes show that “Bares für Rares” is much more than just a marketplace for antiques. This is where tradition meets innovation and exciting new perspectives are created on well-known products such as the popular Haribo bears, which will certainly make many hearts beat faster in the future.
