School route professionals in Baden-Württemberg: Competition for active children started!
On June 25, 2025, the results of a household survey were published, providing new impetus for local initiatives in Baden-Württemberg. As part of the efforts to promote start-ups, the SPD municipal council group supports all innovative projects, including the presentation of new concepts such as the concept workshop “Salach should be a good place for start-ups!”. In this context, the state program MOVERS, which encourages primary schools to take part in the participation campaign “School Path Professionals – Whoever goes, wins!” calls, highlighted.
The campaign aims to motivate children to come to school actively, be it on foot, by scooter or by bike. This year the campaign runs from September 15th to October 24th, 2025 and offers primary schools in Baden-Württemberg the opportunity to take part in a competition that has been established since 2024. There have already been over 25,000 participants and a total of 275,000 journeys completed. The competition promotes independent and sustainable mobility for children and is clearly against the use of parent taxis.
Competition and prizes
As part of the participation campaign, students can collect their active routes to school over a set period of three weeks. The primary school with the most active routes to school in relation to the total number of students not only receives a prize for more exercise during break, but also a challenge cup. Special schoolyard highlights await second and third places. Registrations must be made by July 28, 2025.
- Aktionszeitraum: 15. September bis 24. Oktober 2025
- Anmeldeschluss: 28. Juli 2025
- Teilnehmer: Alle Grundschulen in Baden-Württemberg
The aim of the campaign is not only to encourage students to take an active part, but also to raise awareness among parents. The advantages are obvious: fewer parent taxis, a conscious approach to the issue of road safety and tried-and-tested teaching materials that are made available before the summer holidays.
Materials and support
Even before the campaign starts, schools are provided with communication materials such as outdoor banners, class posters and teaching materials. During the campaign weeks, the students record their routes to school on special class posters and submit the results online. There is also an opportunity for feedback after the campaign in order to take further improvements into account next year.
Further information and materials about the campaign are available on the MOVERS website: movers-bw.de. Current communication materials are continually provided here to make it easier for schools to participate.
Overall, the participatory campaign “School Path Professionals – Whoever goes wins!” a valuable opportunity to improve children's mobility and at the same time strengthen the sense of community within school locations. Active participation not only makes the journey to school safer, but also promotes fun in exercise.
