New neighborhood café in Butzbach: friendships through culture!
On June 2, 2025, a remarkable neighborhood café took place at the Degerfeld meeting point, organized by volunteers from the “Cooking of Cultures” event. The aim of this initiative is to bring the residents of Degerfeld together and to promote exchange between neighbors. One participant expressed excitement and reported, “I made a new friend today,” underscoring the importance of such gatherings.
The event was very popular. More and more visitors brought cake with them, which is why additional tables had to be set up to accommodate all guests. This is a sign of the positive response the neighborhood café is receiving in the community.
Next meeting
The next neighborhood café will take place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. Those interested are invited to bring cake to further strengthen the community atmosphere. If the weather conditions are good, the meeting is planned to be held outdoors; otherwise it will take place on the premises of the Degerfeld meeting point.
Community work and its goals
These activities are part of community work financed by the city of Butzbach and the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs. They are based on the desire to combat isolation and social exclusion by promoting intercultural encounters, workshops and group activities. These measures create a space in which people from different backgrounds can come together, exchange ideas and support each other. The AWO meeting center also provides insights into this type of work, which is aimed at diverse groups, including people with a migrant background and seniors, who are encouraged to actively participate and become lifelong learners.
A central aspect of community work is the promotion of multilingualism, intercultural dialogue and understanding between generations. Such initiatives help strengthen the community and promote an inclusive society.
