Mother's Day joy in Marktzeuln: Choir delights seniors with song festival!

A warm Mother's Day celebration by the senior team recently took place in the Marktzeuln youth home, where the manager Edeltraud Holhut personally welcomed the guests. The mothers were honored in a special service and loving gifts were presented to loyal visitors to the seniors' afternoons. Retired pastor Wolfgang Scherbel paid a visit and underlined the importance of the festival.

The varied program was framed by the multi-generational choir from Michelau under the direction of Fred Köhlerschmitt. The singers performed songs for Mother's Day, such as “Say Thank You with Red Roses”, along with folk songs and popular hits. The choir's performance was rewarded with much applause, and the audience actively participated in singing along.

The multi-generational choir

The multi-generation choir was founded in October 2009 by Valentina Berger and implements a unique concept in which old and young sing together. Initially starting with 11 members, the choir now has over 100 singers, whose ages range from 4 to 84 years old. The rehearsals take place every Friday in the St. Martinus Church and participation is open to anyone who enjoys singing. The focus is not on club structures, but on the shared passion for music. One reports that in addition to organizing family masses, the choir also performs at special events such as deacon ordinations and concerts.

To celebrate, grill master Helmut Kießling took care of everyone's physical well-being in the courtyard and served Franconian grilled sausages, complemented by coffee and home-baked cakes that the team and bakers had lovingly prepared. This created a relaxed atmosphere in which guests could exchange ideas with friends and acquaintances.

Cross-generational togetherness

The ASHOS projects actively support cross-generational cooperation, which also comes into play in the work of the multi-generational choir. Such initiatives create spaces for community activities and neighborly living together. Your volunteer work emphasizes that volunteer work is crucial for the success of these projects, as many offers could not be realized without committed helpers. These include, for example, surrogate grandparents, computer tutoring or German courses.

The next seniors' afternoon will take place in July and will be enriched by kindergarten children and a multimedia show by Bernd Fischer on the topic “Kronach shines”. Another example of how intergenerational activities can benefit not only the community, but also each individual.
