Colony Festival in Leverkusen: Three days full of fun and adventure!

Leverkusen is preparing for a festive weekend: from June 20th to 22nd, the citizens' and neighborhood festival of the former Bayer colonies II and III in Wiesdorf/Manfort will take place in the Recreation House Park. During this three-day event, residents and visitors are invited to celebrate community and enjoy numerous activities. The event begins on Friday, June 20th at 6 p.m. with the awarding of the most beautiful colony gardens, followed by a musical program with the “Ne Kölsche Jukebox”.

Saturday, June 21st, starts at 12 p.m. with an ecumenical service. From 2 p.m., visitors can relax with coffee and cake and enjoy various children's attractions. A special highlight is the performance of the Wiesdorfer Rheinkadetten children's and youth dance corps, which will provide entertainment. From 7 p.m. DJ Mario takes over and ensures a good atmosphere.

Festival program and children's events

The last day of the festival, Sunday, June 22nd, begins at 11 a.m. with a musical morning pint. Coffee and cake are on the agenda again in the afternoon from 2 p.m., and children have the opportunity to take part in a flea market throughout the weekend.

Another important part of cultural life in Leverkusen is the children's carnival of the KG Wiesdorfer Rheinkadetten, which takes place in the Wiesdorf community hall. Last Sunday, over 350 children from the region enjoyed the event, which was held under the motto "Now it starts! We are unstoppable!" stood. This year a presenter encouraged the little ones to dance on stage.

The dance groups' performances took place without a fee, while in return the Rhine Cadets performed during their sessions. Under the direction of Stefan Winklewski, new talent was also sought for the cadet squad and the youth dance corps. Interested children had the opportunity to take part in trial sessions offered in the community hall.

Popular costumes and happy atmosphere

The children appeared in colorful costumes ranging from superheroes like Spiderman and the Ninja Turtles to Pipi Longstocking, ladybugs and princesses. There was a lot of swaying, clapping and jumping at the event. “Prince Mama” Yvonne Petras praised the lively atmosphere and the commitment of the young participants.

These two events - the citizens' festival in the recreation house park and the children's carnival of the Wiesdorfer Rheinkadetten - reflect the social and cultural activities in Leverkusen. They offer the community the opportunity to come together, celebrate and, above all, offer the children a platform for joy and creative development.
