Bennigsen is celebrating 100 years of the fire department: tent party and parade await!

The Bennigsen Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating an important anniversary this year: Founded on May 23, 1925, it is now 100 years old. For this occasion, the members of the fire department have planned a large tent party, which will take place next weekend, June 14th and 15th, 2025, at the FC Bennigsen festival site. The fire department is already calling on the population to decorate their houses in the celebratory colors of blue and red to brighten up the parade on Sunday. NDZ reports.

The celebrations begin on Saturday, June 14th at 1:00 p.m. with a children's afternoon, which includes free face painting, craft activities and sports such as tennis wall and low-t-ball. From 2 p.m. there is coffee and cake for the adults. The festival starts at 5:00 p.m. with food and drink stalls. A musical highlight will be the performance of the Illertal party band, which starts at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased both online and at the box office.

Festival program and other events

On Sunday, June 15th, a service meeting of the Springe city fire department will take place at 9:30 a.m., but it will not be open to the public. After the clubs' reception in the festival tent at 1:00 p.m., the line-up for the traditional parade begins at 2:30 p.m., which starts at 3:00 p.m. and moves through the town. The festivities will continue from 4 p.m.

The preparations for the anniversary are part of a comprehensive program that was already presented at the fire department's annual general meeting on February 15, 2025. Local fire chief Patrick Rokahr reported on numerous operations and the planning of various events in working groups. In 2024, the Bennigsen fire department had a total of 104 members, 61 of whom were active emergency services. Rokahr also announced that two new vehicles, a TLF 3000 and an HLF 20, are being planned. The HLF 20 is scheduled to be delivered in a few weeks. Florian Sachsen reports.

Many honors and promotions were also announced at the annual general meeting, including the appointment of Emily-Marie Kramer as firefighter candidate and the promotions of Jamie Böhm and Sandra Wedekind to senior firefighters. Deserving members also received awards for their many years of service.
