Flower pictures from Hohenstadt: A festival of hope for Corpus Christi
On June 20, 2025, an impressive creative event took place in Hohenstadt in preparation for the Corpus Christi procession. Women from the small community made colorful floral pictures for the outside altar that reflect the motto of the Holy Year 2025: “Pilgrims of Hope”. The group, led by Dorothea Götz, made a significant contribution to the celebration through their artistic work. Their achievements are described as great, despite the small size of the community.
What is particularly noteworthy is that twelve smaller motifs were designed by different families from Hohenstadt. This unconventional approach illustrates the community's strong community spirit and shows its connection to the spiritual themes of the year.
The Holy Year 2025: A sign of hope
The motto “Pilgrims of Hope” is in the context of the Holy Year 2025, which represents not only a celebration of faith, but also an invitation to a community pilgrimage to Rome. As the Archdiocese of Hamburg explains in a recent article, the 30th birthday of the archdiocese will also be celebrated in 2025. These events are occasions for thanksgiving, reflection and strengthening of faith.
The planned pilgrimage to Rome will take pilgrims to the roots of their faith, to the sources of the early church and to the city, which is seen as the center of the church's dynamism. Important aspects such as the Second Vatican Council and the current impulses of Pope Francis are also discussed here. This represents a valuable opportunity to engage with the theological depth and past of the Church.
A week of reflection
As part of the pilgrimage, a visit to the grave of John Paul II in St. Peter's Basilica is also planned. This week in Rome offers space not only for spiritual reflection, but also for community and empowerment. The Archbishop Dr. Stefan Heße has already expressed his wishes for a successful and edifying week at the graves of Peter and Paul.
Overall, the themes of the connection between art and faith, hope and community are consolidated in the previous events in Hohenstadt and the upcoming pilgrimages to Rome. The service and the associated spiritual life experience mean a valuable exchange for the congregation and the pilgrims and a strengthening of their community.
