Class 74/75 meets: 50 years after graduating in Eschenbach!
On October 18, 2025, the business school class of 1974/75 in Eschenbach celebrated its 50th anniversary. The celebration brought together 22 of 36 former classmates who reminisced for a day. StD Bernhard Miedl, the deputy headmaster of the business school, led the participants through the current school building and gave insights into the current learning concepts.
The event began with a service in the mountain church to remember the deceased teachers and classmates. This highlights the deep emotional bonds that remain even 50 years after graduation. The memories of our time at school together came to life in a cozy setting while drinking coffee at the Rußweiher. Particularly pleasing was the participation of Annemarie Metz, a former teacher in the class, who further enriched the exchange.
Nostalgia and reflection
The nostalgic nature of such meetings is of great importance. This is also reflected in the experiences that many participants had. Questions like “Who’s coming?” and “How do I look?” stalks many people before a class reunion. Memories of youth and school days are brought back, which can evoke both positive and negative emotions. Psychologists point out that class meetings also provide an opportunity for self-reflection and encourage many people to talk about their life situations, which is what happened in this case.
Special discussions about various life situations, such as jobs, children and experiences in (un)retirement, took place during the meeting. Reflections on old conflicts and the opportunity to clear up misunderstandings were also part of the exchange. The meeting ended with the resolution to gather again in Eschenbach in five years to revive memories and create new ones.
Overall, it can be said that class reunions are not just for nostalgia, but also offer valuable opportunities for personal development. As Deutschlandfunk Kultur reports, 47% of people in Germany have never been to a class reunion. This shows that such meetings are still a special, if sometimes challenging, experience for many.
This long-established tradition not only brings back memories, but also promotes solidarity among former students and gives the chance to stay in touch and support each other.
