Honorable award for Christine Kneißl: brass music legend honored!
The Eschenbach town band honored their services to brass music at a celebratory event. The focus of the honor was Christine Kneißl, who was awarded the Gold Badge of Honor by the North Bavarian Music Association for her outstanding contributions to German brass music. This honor took place during a serenade in honor of a long-standing member of the ensemble. Kneißl, who has been active in various brass music ensembles for over 45 years, looks back on a remarkable musical career that began in 1976. Her engagements in the Pressath youth band and the Pressath music school under conductor Alois Juretzka are particularly worth mentioning.
“She contributed to the Eschenbach town band for over 25 years and was also actively involved in the association’s board,” said chairman Martin Danzer. Although Kneißl has been stepping back for a few years, she remains connected to brass music. In addition to her award, Danzer also announced that Hannah Mayer from Speinshart has been appointed as the new deputy chair, which provides a breath of fresh air within the board.
Hearty snack to celebrate
The evening was rounded off with a traditional snack prepared by Franz Völkl, a passive member and long-time supporter of the city band. Bavarian-Bohemian specialties such as farmer's smoked meats, liver cheese and fresh farmer's bread were served. This sociable gathering not only represented a thank you to the members, but also promoted exchange and community among those present.
Honors in the Baden-Württemberg brass music association
The honors, like those held in Eschenbach, are a central part of the work of the Baden-Württemberg Brass Music Association (BVBW). According to the BVBW, long-term support of brass music is recognized with honors that concern active musicians, functionaries, clubs and other personalities. The association's current honors regulations are available online and enable clubs to submit applications for honors via the ComMusic program. These should be submitted approximately eight weeks before the planned award date.
The applications are then checked by the honors representative of the Brass Music Association Bodenseekreis e.V. and forwarded to the BVBW, which sends the certificates and decorations. Special honors are given by club chairmen, district chairmen and the president or vice president of the BMVBK. There are different classes of awards that are given based on active musicianship.
For many years of service, such as 50 years of active membership, the musicians were then made honorary members of the association. These honors also include medals and pins that recognize special achievements. The regular honors help to keep the tradition of brass music alive and to honor the commitment of the members. Further information about the awards can be found on the BVBW website.
