Girls' Football Day in Weilheim: Register now and play!
Next Saturday will be Girls' Football Day in Weilheim, an event that was originally planned for April but was postponed to ensure things run smoothly. This reports Teckbote. The organization is the responsibility of Angelo Docimo, trainer and person responsible for the new women's and girls' teams at TSV Weilheim. The day begins at 11 a.m. and is expected to end at 3 p.m.
Various activities are planned for girls aged 6 to 14, including games courses, training sessions, games on small pitches and football-tennis. Participants do not need any previous knowledge; registration is possible as long as places are available. Interested girls can email juniorinnen@fussball-weilheim.de to register.
Important support and sustainability
Girls' Football Day is an initiative of the Württemberg Football Association (WFV), which annually looks for clubs to organize this event. Anja Fuchs from WFV emphasizes that the organizing clubs are crucial to the success and sustainability of such events. According to WFV statistics, in the current season there are 19 teams in the Neckar-Fils district that are in the lower third of the number of participants.
In parallel to the promotion of girls' football, other initiatives are also taking place, such as the 2nd Women's and Girls' Football Congress of the WDFV, which will take place on March 23, 2024 in the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena in Duisburg. Registration for this congress is already open. The topic “Women’s Power – Strong Together – Clubs in Focus” will be discussed, while representatives of clubs will have the opportunity to attend workshops and lectures. This is based on information from FLVW out.
Growth of women's football worldwide
Women's football has made impressive progress worldwide in recent years, as well Fifa reported. While England hosts the Women's UEFA EURO, the CONCACAF zone's best players are competing in Mexico for a place at the upcoming World Cup in 2023. These international tournaments are part of a larger growth reflected in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, where 181 of 211 member associations are represented.
FIFA's Women's Football Strategy, launched in October 2018, aims to increase the number of girls and women playing football to 60 million by 2026. In addition, important aid packages and support programs accompany the development in order to sustainably support girls and women in football.
The upcoming events in Weilheim and the congress in Duisburg are examples of how the promotion of women's football is being promoted regionally and nationally. Such initiatives are not only important for the development of the players, but also for the entire club and popular sport.
