Handball season 2025: TG Nürtingen in the starting blocks – coaches are worried!

On September 20, 2025, TG Nürtingen will start the new season of the handball district league, season 2. The anticipation is great, but the coaches of the three teams in the region are already expressing concerns about the long breaks in the new schedule. In particular, Tobias Klett (SKV Unterensingen II), Dominik Merkle (TB Neuffen) and Florian Beck (TG Nürtingen) see this as a difficulty in getting into the rhythm. SKV Unterensingen II will start the season a week later, on September 27th, and TB Neuffen will follow on October 4th, 2025.

The unrest over the schedule is not the only issue that concerns the handball world in Nürtingen. At the same time, the second division handball players from TG Nürtingen are about to start the 2025/26 season. The first acid test will be the DHB Cup game against TuS Metzingen on Sunday, August 24th at 4 p.m. Coach Manel Cirac emphasizes that the league game on August 30th against FSV Mainz 05 at 7:30 p.m. is the actual start of the season. However, the cup game serves as an important opportunity to compete with a first division team.

Promote team dynamics

The preparation of the TG Nürtingen is going according to plan. After three intensive weeks of training with only one day off, there was a short regeneration phase. Cirac emphasizes that the mood in the team is good and the quality of training is high. As part of the preparation, test games were played against Neckarsulmer SU, HSG Bensheim/Auerbach and TSG Haßloch. These games provided important insights for fine-tuning before the start of the season.

A training camp in Switzerland, which takes place from Friday to Sunday, concludes the preparation phase. A test match against Yellow Winterthur will also be played there. The entire squad will travel with us, although left winger Julia Symanzik will not be able to play due to her broken scaphoid bone. Cirac states that there is currently no concrete comeback date for her. New to the team is Ronja Bühler, who has fitted in well and is proving her qualities.

A pioneering start to the season

With the preparations over, the focus is now clearly on the upcoming start of the league. The tension is increasing not only for the women's team, but also for the men's teams of TG Nürtingen, SKV Unterensingen II and TB Neuffen, who all have to deal with the challenge of the long breaks in the new schedule after the first games. These concerns reflect the need to quickly find a rhythm and have a successful season.

The developments surrounding the handball teams in Nürtingen will continue to be followed in the future. With the starting signal for the district league on September 20, 2025 and the subsequent games of the second division handball players, the region will hopefully experience enthusiastic fans and exciting games.
