On June 14, 2025, news of the death of Mrs. Shirley Marie Henderson reached the community of Aragon, Georgia. The 80-year-old passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, leaving behind a significant legacy in her family and the community.
Shirley Marie Henderson was born on July 27, 1944 in Gordon County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Albert Lee and Mary Ruth Bennett, both deceased. She was there for many in her life, especially her family. She was married to her husband Leslie Doyle Henderson for 58 years and cared for their three sons: Les (Stacy), Greg (Tiffany) and Chris (Rebecca).
Family and legacy
Shirley leaves behind a large family consisting of ten grandchildren and soon a great-grandchild. Her grandchildren are Caleb, Nicholas, Owen (Sarah), Hunter, Abby, Cooper, Shay, Breanna and Mary Henderson. She was known to spend a lot of time with them, playing bingo and telling them Bible stories, demonstrating the importance of family in her life.
She will be mourned by her siblings, including two sisters, Diane Edwards (Michael) and Peggy Stegall (Billy), and a brother, Doug Bennett (Debra), as well as several nieces and nephews. Shirley Marie Henderson's legacy is viewed as one of godliness and family enrichment, particularly in a community where she taught Sunday school for many years at Silver Creek Church of God and worked at Gingerbread Day Care.
Funeral service
Mrs. Henderson's funeral will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2025, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, South Chapel. The family is expecting friends from 11 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiants of the service will be Rev. Jack Sexton and Rev. Owen Henderson. Burial will be at Polk Memory Gardens and will be officiated by her grandson, Cooper Henderson.
The pallbearers are Caleb Henderson, Nicholas Henderson, Owen Henderson, Hunter Henderson, Cooper Henderson and Hunter Cleveland. Mrs. Shirley Marie Henderson will be greatly missed by her family and community, and her lifestyle and love for her loved ones will always be remembered.
