Neckartenzlingen takes off: fiber optic expansion for over 1,700 households!

On June 7, 2025, Telekom broke ground for the fiber optic expansion in Neckartenzlingen. On Danziger Strasse, this celebratory moment marked the beginning of a comprehensive project that will connect over 1,700 households and businesses to the new fiber optic network. The first customers are expected to be able to use their new connection this year, which will significantly improve internet connectivity for the region. NTZ reports that this project not only benefits private households, but also local companies.

The fiber optic expansion is being carried out independently by Telekom and includes the laying of around 30 kilometers of fiber optic cable and the construction of 13 new distributors in the community. In this context, Mayor Melanie Braun emphasized the crucial role of reliable internet connections for the economy and the quality of life of citizens. “The expansion is central to the future viability of our community,” she emphasized.

Expectations and advantages of fiber optic expansion

Once the construction work is completed, around half of all households and businesses in Neckartenzlingen will have a fiber optic connection. The close cooperation between the municipality and Telekom should also ensure that disruption to residents during construction work is kept to a minimum. Loud Telecom The aim is to continue the fiber optic expansion in the Esslingen district in order to further increase the coverage rate.

Fiber optic connections not only offer higher transmission rates, but also enable various applications to be used simultaneously, such as working, learning, streaming and gaming, without interruptions. This is supported by the fact that monthly data consumption per household in Germany increases every three years. German households currently use an average of between 12 and 15 internet-enabled devices, which further reinforces the need for stable and fast internet.

In the discussion about digital infrastructure, fiber optics are viewed as robust against external influences and more environmentally friendly than conventional copper networks. The groundbreaking ceremony in Neckartenzlingen not only marks technological progress, but also an important step towards a modern, future-proof community.
