Neckartenzlingen invests: New transport concept for cyclists and schools!
The Neckartenzlingen local council has initiated a future-oriented plan to improve cycle and school routes. In particular, the connection to the school center should be optimized and problems with car traffic, such as parking pressure, should be addressed. When analyzing the current traffic situation, it was found that many cycle paths end abruptly and parked cars often hinder bus traffic. In order to find a suitable solution, the local council commissioned the SSW planning group from Ludwigsburg to create a comprehensive traffic concept, reports ntz.de.
These measures are part of a larger trend towards sustainable mobility, which is increasingly encouraging the switch to cycling as an environmentally friendly alternative to cars. The promotion of cycling in Baden-Württemberg is supported by the RadNETZ, which was created in collaboration with cities and municipalities. The goal is to increase the proportion of cycling to 20 percent by 2030. This initiative is seen as an important step to promote environmental protection and reduce parking pressure in inner cities vm.baden-wuerttemberg.de explained.
More safety and comfort for cyclists
The RadNETZ provides new standards for infrastructure by implementing clear signage and main signposts that provide orientation for cyclists. These include information about nearby destinations, distances and other useful information about route guidance. Implementation requires close cooperation between the federal, state and local authorities, with the state supporting the communities in planning and public relations.
Current developments show that interest in cycling is increasing, also due to the increasing use of e-bikes and (e-)cargo bikes. In order to meet the growing demand, new cycling concepts and funding from the federal and state governments are essential. According to the analysis by the Institute for Transport Research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), these changes also reflect a societal shift towards sustainable mobility options.
Projects to promote cycling
The project “Cycling in Germany – numbers, data, facts” is now being revised to reflect current topics such as sustainability, the influence of the corona pandemic and the promotion of cargo and electric bikes. The results are presented at state and regional level in order to transparently show where there is potential for improvement. This project is 100% funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport and is part of the implementation of the National Cycling Plan 3.0. The total value of the project is 44,835.34 euros, as stated on the website Mobility Forum is explained.
With these initiatives, Neckartenzlingen will not only symbolically take a step towards a modern transport infrastructure, but will also actively contribute to the quality of life of its citizens and to environmental protection.
