Civil defense EMME builds anticipation: wrestling festival in Root will be a hit!
On May 23, 2025, there will be a lot of activity in the Lucerne region as the civil protection organization EMME prepares for the upcoming 105th Lucerne Cantonal Wrestling Festival in Root. On the days of the festival, May 24th and 25th, thousands of guests are expected at the festival site. The ZSO EMME, especially the pioneer trains 7 and 8, have already been in action for several days to build the necessary infrastructure such as stands, roofing and music stages. This support not only serves for the major event, but also as valuable training for the set-up and dismantling processes.
Battalion commander Toni Betschart emphasizes the importance of such operations for training civil defense members. After the festival, the entire arena will be dismantled the following week. In addition to the preparations for the wrestling festival, the civil protection officers are also active in Emmen to repair a forest path in the Riffigwald and to equip the Finnenbahn in Mooshüsli with a new wood chip base. In addition, information boards at the Celtic tree circle at Riffigweiher will be replaced.
