Mysterious suitcase corpse in Filderstadt: Police are asking for information!
On August 28, 2025, an employee of the construction yard in Filderstadt-Bonlanden discovered a suitcase containing a badly decomposed, partially skeletonized corpse. The identity of the body has now been established as a 40-year-old woman from Stuttgart who had been missing since the end of July. The Criminal Investigation Department of the Special Trolley Commission has taken over the case to clarify the circumstances of her death, while investigations into the exact cause and time of death are still ongoing. The suitcase in which the body was found belonged to the “Juicy Couture” brand and was discovered on Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Straße, near a children's playground. These shocking events were documented in detail by Stimme.de.
In the upcoming episode of the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY” on September 17, 2025, the case will be presented to the public in order to possibly obtain new information. Police have offered a reward of 1,000 euros for relevant information. Investigators are asking for information about any suspicious observations or people seen near a suitcase in the area. Interestingly, the police are also planning to specifically collect information from the homeless and drug community in order to reconstruct the last days of the missing woman. To do this, the police distribute flyers in the relevant areas to reach potential witnesses who could provide important information. According to SWR it remains unclear whether the woman was homeless, as this information has not yet been confirmed.
Homelessness in focus
Homelessness is a pressing issue in Germany, especially in urban areas, where rising rent prices are causing problems for many people. Current statistics show that around 532,000 people are homeless in Germany, including around 47,300 homeless people. Rent arrears are often the main reason for the loss of living space, while rents have risen continuously in recent years. This problem is particularly serious in large cities, where the proportion of housing costs for many households in 2023 was over a quarter of disposable income. This data comes from Statista, which documents the increasing need for social housing and the terrible living conditions of many homeless people.
The investigation into the woman's identity and the circumstances of her death continues. The police have already received initial information and hope to collect additional reliable information through the public presentation in “File number XY”. It is hoped that this woman's tragic story and the issues associated with homelessness receive more attention and support.
