Funding for 22 sports clubs: Where the funds are not enough!
Find out how the WLSB supports 22 sports clubs in Denkendorf and the surrounding area with around 230,000 euros for construction projects.

Funding for 22 sports clubs: Where the funds are not enough!
The Württemberg State Sports Association (WLSB) continued to support construction projects for sports clubs in the Esslingen district this year. A total of 22 local associations will receive funding of around 230,000 euros for various construction projects. These measures are crucial to modernize and maintain the infrastructure in the sports sector.
A total of 334 sports clubs have received funding from the WLSB. The average funding rate is usually 30 percent. However, the money provided this year is not enough to meet demand. Less than half of the supported associations can claim the full quota of 30 percent, and for one in seven projects the quota is even less than 20 percent. This illustrates the enormous pressure that many clubs are under.
Funding and use of funds
The 21 chairmen of the board of directors of the supported sports clubs in the Esslingen sports district have planned investments totaling almost 840,000 euros. The highest grants this year were provided for the following projects:
| Association | amount | project |
|---|---|---|
| TSV Denkendorf | almost 38,000 euros | Renovation of the bowling alleys and conversion of the lighting to LED |
| TV Neidlingen | 27,000 euros | Renewal of the irrigation system |
| TC Neuhausen | 23,300 euros | Renovation of the sanitary area in the clubhouse |
| Wernau shooting club | almost 22,700 euros | Roof renovation of the clubhouse |
| Esslingen Rifle Society | around 18,700 euros | Roof renovation of the shooting range |
A central concern of the WLSB is to offer support to as many clubs as possible. Maximum funding amounts have therefore been set. WLSB President Andreas Felchle appeals to the state government to make more money available in order to better support the clubs in their construction projects. The WLSB represents over 2.4 million members in around 5,700 clubs and is responsible for the administration of state subsidies, the development of sports policy concepts and advice on these matters.
Accessibility of funding
The WLSB's funding focuses not only on new buildings, but also on the repair and energy-efficient renovation of existing sports facilities. Applications for grants can be submitted at any time, which offers clubs flexibility to plan construction work efficiently. However, it is important that the construction work only begins after approval or construction approval from the WLSB in order to be able to claim funding. Early involvement of the WLSB is recommended to ensure smooth approval processes. Further information on this is available in the FAQ section of the WLSB to help clubs apply and plan.
In summary, the current situation in the Esslingen district shows how important it is to continue funding in order to be able to provide sports clubs with the necessary funds for sustainable sports facility construction. [esslinger-zeitung] reports that the challenges of insufficient resources remain, but the idea of support and promotion is clearly in the focus of the sporting community.
